After releasing "Textbook", the book about the collaboration between Off-White and Nike, Virgil Abloh presents his new Pre Spring 2019 Collection, dubbed "Impressionism". All the lookbook and video have been shot using stunning mountainside views as background.
The name of the collection takes its name from the Frenchest of art movements, in fact, Virgil explains that he's been inspired by the view of the Seine from his new office in the Louis Vuitton HQ in Paris. New ideas for the upcoming collection comes from the paintings of Manet and Monet, and their innovative colour approach, as well as their painting techniques. At the time, critics told the two French painters that they were unable to draw, which had long been a prerequisite in the schools of art in late '800, and Virgil took inspiration from their personality and their courage to propose their new works despite what people say. “I’m into graphics and identity that are a little more, what’s the word? Romantic now. I think in the past it’s been static and almost very industrial. This is taking the same industrial spirit, but doing it in a romantic way.” This new Spring Summer 2019 collection is an evolution of Off-White, something beyond the classic minimal style of the brand. The line includes staple pieces reworked like denim jackets, trousers, sweaters, coats and lots of accessories. Camouflage patterns decorate puffer jackets and pants, while yellow sneakers and flower textured shirts take their way into this new collection.
